We will be planting flowers in the raised bed at the entrance to the Walnut Street Bridge.
Parking: There is curbside metered parking on Walnut, near Front, and other places nearby. Or they can park for free on City Island and walk across the Walnut Street Bridge.
Dress in gardening clothes, with garden gloves if desired.
Bring garden tools for planting (trowel and or spade) if possible.

It's that time of the year again! Community Service Award! We will be awarding a lucky winner, who has demonstrated the following:
Nomination Criteria for the Rotary Club of Harrisburg Community Service Award Demonstrated Commitment to Service: Nominees must have a proven track record of dedicated service to the Harrisburg community, consistently going above and beyond to make a positive impact.
Impact: Nominees should have initiated or contributed to projects or initiatives that have significantly benefited the community, demonstrating creativity and effectiveness in addressing local needs.
Leadership and Collaboration: Nominees should exhibit strong leadership qualities and a collaborative spirit, actively engaging with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to achieve common goals and create lasting change.
Ethical and Responsible Conduct: Nominees must uphold the Four-way Test and ethical standards and demonstrate integrity in their service activities, acting as positive role models for others in the community.

John J. "Ski" Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D., is HACC’s seventh president, a position he’s held since 2011. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ski was the first member of his working-class family to graduate from college, earning his bachelor's degree in philosophy before going on to earn two master's degrees in business and a doctorate in education, as well as an honorary associate degree. He began his professional career as a teacher in a Chicago school followed by a stint as a corporate trainer for two Fortune 500 companies. He returned to education taking a community college administrative position at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Ski was appointed president of then-Lord Fairfax Community College (now named Laurel Ridge Community College) in Middletown, Virginia, and later president of Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, before accepting the position as president of HACC. Ski is a member of the board of directors of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and the chair of the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges. He serves on the board of the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce, Pennsylvania’s Workforce Investment Board, and Harrisburg’s Recycle Bicycle, Inc. He participated in the first-ever White House Summit on Community Colleges, and the AACC’s 21st Century Commission on the Future of Community Colleges. Ski lives in Harrisburg with his husband, Steve Perrault and Bart, their Basenji dog. Ski is an active member of the Harrisburg business community and an avid bicyclist. Charlotte Katzenmoyer has 30 years of experience in the water industry including private sector consulting and public utility experience. Ms. Katzenmoyer is the CEO of Capital Region Water where she oversees a 145-employee utility that serves the City of Harrisburg and surrounding communities with drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services. Ms. Katzenmoyer also serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Clean Water Agencies. In a previous role, she served as Director of Public Works for the City of Lancaster where she oversaw the modernization of its water and sewer infrastructure and developed a nationally recognized green stormwater infrastructure program. |

Luke Bernstein is President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry. With more than 20 years of experience in business and public policy, he has held leadership roles in both the public and private sector. Before joining the Chamber in 2022, he served as Chief Operations and Technology Officer for Orrstown Financial Services and previously served as deputy chief of staff to Gov. Tom Corbett. Luke also has experience working at the federal level, both as an appointed advisor in the Administration of President George W. Bush and as an aide in the U.S. Senate. Luke has been regularly regarded as one of the most influential people in Pennsylvania by City and State. A Dickinson College graduate, Luke also completed the Duke Leadership Program and remains active in his community as a board member and youth sports coach.
