The Rotary Club of Saratoga Springs is pleased to present its 2024 Senior Citizen of the Year
award to Jean Fei of Saratoga Springs. The award honors a Saratoga County resident, aged 65 or better, who demonstrates the Rotary principle of “Service Above Self.” Nominations are sought annually from non-profits and service organizations and the general public.
Jean “is often behind the scenes waiting to see how she can be of service to those in need and we have all benefitted from her generosity and wisdom,” said Katie Capelli in her nomination. “Jean is an educator and peacemaker, bringing people together with compassion and awareness.” In addition to her work on behalf of victims of sexual and domestic violence
at the New York State Victim Assistance Academy and the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Jean has volunteered for multiple non-profit and arts organizations, on projects such as helping to create a Saratoga Springs History Treasure Hunt for MLK Saratoga, helping to organize the Peace Fair, and throwing clay to make bowls for the Chili Bowl fundraiser.

Additionally, Jean has served on many non-profit boards, including those of YouthSquared, Social Justice Center of Albany, The Seven Dancers Coalition, and Saratoga Springs Public Library. "Having the opportunity to learn about the many ways people in Saratoga County give of their time in service to others is inspiring,” said Issac Pulver, chair of Rotary's Senior Citizen of the Year committee. “It also makes it challenging to choose a single honoree.” Other members of this year’s committee were Susan Rhoades, Bob Schermerhorn, and Barbara Young.

The award will be presented at a reception at the Wishing Well on Thursday, May 2.

The Saratoga Springs Rotary Club participates in multiple service projects each year and sponsors the annual Saratoga Home & Lifestyle Show to raise
funds for scholarships, monthly gifts of up to $5,000 and a biennial major gift of more than $5,000 to support local non-profit organizations. The club welcomes new members!
