If you haven't signed up yet, there is still time

If you have not yet signed up to volunteer at My Brothers Table, there is still time.  Email Ray Bastarache at rbastarache02@comcast.net  Several members have already signed up and the more the merrier.  This is a greatly needed service to our community and well worth the time.  Not only do you help others, but you also get an appreciation of what we as Rotarians have in this world.  We are working on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 4:30 to 7:30.  A small investment in time and labor and a huge return to the community and ourselves.  As a reminder, the names previously signed up for the night were: Ray Bastarache, Steve Upton, Harvey Rowe, Carolyn Cole, Mike Fogarty, Drew Russo, Sean McCarthy, Jared Nicholson, Jen Pearce, Mike Clancy, Paula Clancy, Jim Harris, and Wendy Silva

95th Annual Lynn High Schools Football Thanksgiving Luncheon

This year the service clubs of Lynn will be hosting the 95th Annual Lynn High Schools Football Thanksgiving Luncheon.  We invite members to the Porthole Pub Restaurant at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 for this annual tradition in recognition of the Principals, Coaches, Athletic Directors and Captains of the Football and Cheerleader Teams from our City’s High Schools as well as the Lynn Public School Band.

The Lynn Lions and Rotary Clubs will, once again, co-host this year's event and we look forward to your participation.  We are pleased to have the support of three of Lynn’s major Credit Unions. The Brotherhood, Riverworks and St. Jean’s Credit Unions have agreed to be the Corporate Sponsors of this annual recognition luncheon.

There will be no regular Thursday meeting the week of Thanksgiving but hope that members are able to join in this annual event.

Jim Harris looks forward to seeing you on Tuesday, November 24th for this long-standing tradition!  As always, he is doing great work in helping to organize the event on behalf of our club and for the athletes.  Please register and come to the event and support the student athletes of the city!

Corey Jackson talks to Lynn Rotary about Arts After Hours

Corey Jackson, one of the founders of Arts After Hours and a managing director of recent shows, recently addressed the Lynn Rotary club about the efforts of the organization in Lynn.  Arts After Hours is a theater group dedicated to bringing live theater to the Lynn Community and enhancing the downtown business community.

Corey related how the group started with their first event, a “back us bash” which was very popular and which indicated that there was a market for such an organization in the city.  Arts After Hours does 3-4 shows a year and brings about 1,000 people to the shows during the season.  These people have brought economic activity to the downtown area particularly to the local restaurants.  Their recent show, Chainsaw, attracted people from the Salem area during the Halloween season and they will be holding a Snowball coming up in December to kick off their new season. In addition to the effect on local restaurants, Arts After Hours helps attract residents to the downtown area, which according to Corey, is currently almost fully occupied.  Club members were pleased to hear of the success that Arts After Hours has had in helping to revitalize the downtown business and residence areas.
