The Rotary Club of Lynn welcomed 3 new members as part of the Club recently. Their induction was held during the meeting during which the speaker was our District Governor Dave Manzi. The new members of the Lynn Rotary Club are: Jeanette Andrews, Sean Donohue, and Sean McCarthy.
Jeanette Andrews joins the Lynn Club as a transfer from her club in Marblehead. She is the owner of Andrews & Associates, a financial advisory service company featuring accounting, auditing, and bookkeeping. Jeanette was sponsored by Joyce Elliott. Welcome Jeanette! Thanks for joining our club.
Sean Donohue is the Operations Manager for the Lynn Community Access & Media Group which is beginning the process of establishing a new community cable television broadcast for the City of Lynn. Sean has indicated that the new station will begin by televising the City Council meetings. Among his interests is coaching football and lacrosse. Sean was sponsored by Drew Russo and can hopefully help our club to get the word out about Rotary activities to the City.
Sean McCarthy is a Senior Loan Officer at the Salem Five Bank. He is also a board member of the Arts After Hours theater group in Lynn and is already contributing to the community. Among his interests are running, volunteering and sports. Sean was sponsored by Ray Bastarache and is a welcome addition to our club.
The Club is excited about our three new members and by their prospects in becoming good Lynn Rotarians dedicated to “Service Above Self”. Club members are reminded to introduce themselves to our new members and to initial their club member list!
On October 22, 2015 the Lynn Rotary Club held a Camp Rotary fundraiser and Open House to show the community what Rotary is all about. Over 100 were in attendance and the event was a great success. President Ray briefly told the crowd what Rotary was all about and Rich Cowdell gave a great description of what Camp Rotary is all about, and the wonderful life changing experiences that campers have had there over the years. Members of the camp community including current and former campers were in attendance, evidence of the positive experiences that camp provides.
The event, held at the Lynn Museum, featured photos and explanations of Rotary events and service, a great raffle table, food and drink. Special thanks to Cuffe McGinn Funeral Home, Tri City Sales, Joan Arsenault, Rick Starbard, Welch Florists, Lazy Dog, and Rollys Tavern for their contributions to the raffle table. A number of attendees expressed interest in Rotary and will visit the weekly meetings to learn more about the club. Funds raised from the event will be used for additional camperships for Lynn students to attend Camp Rotary.
