Find Out How you Can Make A Difference this December!

Though there was no formal Rotary meeting this past week, Rotary Whyte Ave Rotarians are as busy as ever!  Check out some of the ways you can help your community with the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue this December:

December 5: Donate & Volunteer at the Stocking Stuffer Drive for the Skills Society - The Skills Society provides support services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, survivors of acquired brain injury, and their families. We're collecting donations to go towards holiday stockings for people supported by their Outreach Program. Click here to donate, help us put the stockings together, or to learn more!

December 10 & 12: Volunteer at the Dinner Club's Christmas Dinner! The Dinner Club is a weekly program organized by the Neighbour Centre where neighbours experiencing homelessness, as well as those volunteering, come together to prepare, cook, and eat dinner. We’re looking for volunteers to donate desserts (or help make them on Dec. 10th!) & donate their time for the Neighbour Centre Dinner Club's annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 12. Learn more & sign up here.

Now until Dec. 12: Get rid of your old travel mugs & support the Neighbour Centre at the same time! We're donating travel mugs/go-cups for patrons of the Neighbor Centre and you can help!  If you have any you would like to donate, please bring them to a regular weekly Rotary meeting or by contacting Kevin (kggmcleod@hotmail.com).

Now until Dec. 17: Spread Christmas cheer while combating Polio with the Rotary Whyte Avenue Christmas cards! Cards are $5 each or 5 for $20. Cards can be purchased at Rotary meetings or by contacting Kevin (kggmcleod@hotmail.com).

Now until Jan. 19: Join us for Oil Kings game with funds going towards ending Polio! Rotary District 5370 is partnering with the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday, January 19, 2020 to raise funds for to end polio! Tickets are $25 each and $7 from each ticket purchased goes towards our polio plus goal. Tickets can be purchased at our Rotary meetings or by contacting Foundation Chair at larson.tamarac@gmail.com or (587) 783-8880.

Thanks to everyone for your support!

Update from London from Rotary Whyte Ave Global Grant Scholar
This year, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Ave was one of several Rotary clubs that sponsored Kassia J. to study for her Masters in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies at the London School of Economics.  She wrote to our club to let us know how her studies were going. Read part of her message below:

"My year as a Global Grant Scholar is well underway, and I just wanted to reach out to each of my sponsoring clubs to again express my incredible gratitude for their support in making this incredible experience a reality. You, in particular, were an invaluable resource and support.

These past two months in London have been nothing short of amazing, and this wouldn't have been possible without the support of Rotary, District 5370, and the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue."

Kassia also made a blog post talking about her schooling and life in London, which you can view here: https://www.kfardoe.com/londonhome/
