Rotary Whyte Ave Shines in Support of Shelterbox

This past Tuesday, Rotary Whyte Ave members and friends got together in support of Shelterbox!  Shelterbox is a Rotary partner that provides emergency disaster relief to families around the world who have been made homeless by natural disaster and conflict.

Meeting at the Almanac on Whyte, President-elect and International Services Chair Stan Bissell provided a great presentation on the value and importance of Shelterbox and how members and guests can support. Stan added that the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Ave would match any donations raised up to $1200! Guests also got to enjoy great company, fine drinks, and some delicious food (hope everyone tried the cheese cake!).

Last year our club raised the $1,500 needed to pay for one ShelterBox. This year the goal is to raise enough funding for two Shelterboxes! As you read this, funds are being counted and an update on how much was raised will be provided at the next meeting. There is still time to donate so please do not hesitate to reach out to Stan or Club President Kevin if you would like to contribute!

A huge thank you to Stan Bissell for organizing such a great event and thank you to everyone who came out and donated!
