Doing Our Part to Stop the Spread of The Coronavirus

To help curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus in our community and out of an abundance of caution, all Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue meetings will be cancelled for the rest of March.

The planning of any future meetings will be made with the health and well-being of club members, friends, and of the entire community top of mind and will be in line with the advice coming from Canada's and Alberta's public health officials.

We will reassess closer to April as to whether any further meetings need to be cancelled. We are also looking to have meetings online, so we will make sure to keep you up to date as we move forward!

During this time, Rotarians continue to be leaders in the community - especially as role models. Help model the way and curb the spread of Coronavirus by continuing to follow the advice of national and local health officials; by taking precautions to protect yourself and other by washing your hands often and thoroughly; via social distancing; and by staying home if you are sick.

You can also help those in need, such as by donating to Edmonton's Food Bank or by making meals for Melcor Village.

Please don't hesitate to contact Kevin McLeod (kggmcleod@hotmail.com) with any questions or concerns you may have. Stay healthy and safe out there!

Make Meals in Your Own Home for Melcor Village!

In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, support from our club is needed more than ever! Our amazing Community Services Chair Kristin originally planned a communal night of cooking on March 31st - instead we are going to individually make meals for the the 13 folks living at Melcor Village, who are supported by the Skills Society.

We are looking for 8-12 members of our club to make 13 individually portioned meals to be ready for pick-up on the evening of Tuesday March 31st. Please have your meals packaged in either disposable or reusable individual containers (new containers please).

Kristin will then deliver the prepackaged meals to Skills Society for freezing (you can pass your meals to her either having been refrigerated or frozen).

The health of our members and the folks we support is of utmost importance. Please do not sign up or make meals if you (or a loved one in your home) are feeling under the weather (whether you have been tested for COVID-19 or not). If you sign up to cook a meal, and become symptomatic of illness, please be in contact with Kristin and we can find you a replacement.

Provide Input Into Our 2020 Member Classification Study!

Our club is going to conduct a classification study of members’ occupations and you can help!

Classification studies help clubs clearly see which professions are represented in our club, what skills and expertise are present, and where there are potential gaps that we can work on. They also help align and increase membership with the mix of businesses and professions in our community.

Do you want to provide input to this classification study?  Reach out to president Kevin (kggmcleod@hotmail.com) and join the fun!
