"Support the Environment" is Rotary's International's newest area of focus. Thriving ecosystems can support people's health, create economic opportunities and promote peace. Rotary works with clubs and districts on projects such as tree plantings, micro forest management, watershed clean-up, pollinator programs and providing solar power to health services in remote areas.
Climate change is one of the main global threats to humans today. Rising global temperatures can create more frequent extreme weather, rising sea-levels, food and water shortages, and biodiversity loss.
Join us at Whyte Avenue Rotary this month as we learn about local initiatives to support our environment.

Katie Robertson, Co-founder & CEO of Foundation for Communities spoke to the club about the importance of community foundations and how to best put assets to work locally. These foundations invest in community, grant to local priorities, and build and steward local capital. Community Foundations support long-term solutions and bring together partners and leaders. Decentralizing decision-making and resources are key to community-driven solutions.
