People of Action are at it again! Rotarians and friends, including past club members, neighbors, friends from the YEG Passport Club and friends from the Glenora Rotary Club, once again showed their commitment to supporting our community by making delicious home cooked meals for people in need!
Over 100 delicious meals as well as 60, 2-pack baked goods were made and delivered for marginalized persons with complex needs who live at Melcor Village and are supported by the Skills Society. Way to go everyone!
Christienne from the Skills Society passed along this message to our volunteers: "I really cannot thank you all enough for what you are doing. You are making a difference, not just for the individuals receiving the meals but for all of us who have the opportunity to witness this level of generosity and commitment to serve, not just a vulnerable population, but fellow humans."

Learning How to Avoid a Social Media Crisis with Grant Ainsley
This past Tuesday, Rotary Whyte Ave was joined by Grant Ainsley to learn about social media crises and, more importantly, how to avoid them.
Grant Ainsley has spent close to 20 years in the news media and public relations in Edmonton, Alberta. Over the last decade he's worked as a media trainer and spoken across Canada on a regular basis on topics related to the news media, social media and communications.
Rotarians and guests were shown some real world examples of social media crises and how it can effect a company's brand and reputation. Grant then went over why it is important to have a social media strategy in place so that employees know what is allowed, what isn't, as well as the consequences for poor behaviour online.

A Bunch of Happy Rotarians During Our Online Happy Hour!
While physical distancing can sometimes get you down, it only takes a chat with a few Rotarians to bring you right back up! This past Friday, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue helped curb the spread of COVID-19 while having a great time with friends online through our 2nd virtual happy hour!
President-elect/Club Bartender Stan B. kick-started the night by showing attendees how to make a classic old fashioned and gave an exciting history of the drink in the process!
Attendees then spent the next hour chatting away. Highlights include how they discussed their favourite drinks, Kathy's physical distancing math project while she's out for a run, and how the members had a pet show off contest with some cute cats and dogs (Kevin's house plant get an honourary mention).

Rotary Whyte Ave Meetings Will Continue Online for the Month of May
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, our Rotary Club moved on line to help curb the spread while still having Rotary fun on a weekly basis!
To ensure we carry on meeting while still playing our part in keeping our neighbours and community safe, our club will continue meeting online for the month of May.
Looking forward to having more Rotary fun online!
Rotary Whyte Avenue's very own Marilyn Mucha (shown in the picture to the right helping out at our recent volunteer event for Melcor Village) was
appointed as the Lead Area Governor for 2020 - 2021.
The announcement included how Marilyn has had many years of experience in Rotary leadership positions and will be instrumental in AG training and communication.
Way to go Marilyn! Thanks for all you do in support of our club and district!
