District Governor Visits Whyte Avenue Rotary!
District 5370 Governor, Jim Ferguson, met with our board and spoke to our club last week. Jim updated our club on what was happening in the district and shared a message from the Rotary International President, Holger Knaack. Jim also described his experience of being part of a Rotary E-club.
Our club has lots to be proud of and we took this opportunity to showcase to our district governor what our club is doing. Club members really appreciated Jim's acknowledgement of all our accomplishments.
Why not check out an online meeting from another Rotary club?
On Thursday October 1st, the Rotary Club of Edmonton West invites you to hear Dr. Robert (Bob) Ascah, one of Alberta's leading economists and authorities on public finances, speak to their club. He will be presenting on Alberta's Halting Economic Recovery - Implications for Alberta's Public Finances

Mustard Seed Dinner2Door Program

The Mustard Seed has launched its Dinner2Door program which delivers hot meals to Edmontonians in need who are unable to access regular food programming due to isolation or social distancing. The contactless-delivery system ensures those living in poverty still have access to warm meals even during such unprecedented times.

Mustard Seed volunteers safely prepare, freeze, and package “take-away” meals, which are then delivered to the doors of registered individuals and families across the city, five times a week. In compliance with COVID-19 protocols outlined by Alberta Health Services, volunteers maintain safe social spacing at all times.

Delivery drivers are needed to pick up pre-packaged, frozen meals from the Mustard Seed Location (10635 96 St NW) every Thursday in October. We need 3 drivers per shift. Sign up for one Thursday or as many dates you can help.

Thank you Marilyn Mucha for organizing this service opportunity (see the bottom of this newsletter for links to signup).

Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check
All Rotary club members are asked to complete a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check for situations when you may be in a position of trust or authority of vulnerable persons, such as children under 18 years of age, the elderly or the disabled. It is important that all club members have a current VPRC when volunteering in the community. A VPRC must be redone every three years. Unfortunately, an information check done for another organization cannot be used to complete this requirement.

The Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check can be done online for $15 with a volunteer letter from the club.

Foundation Moment

What is The Rotary Foundation’s Endowment Fund?

Gifts to Rotary's Endowment ensure that future Rotarians will have the resources they need to design and implement sustainable projects year after year. Donations to the Endowment Fund can be made as an outright gift or a planned gift, such as a bequest in your estate. As of the 2018-19 Rotary year, Rotary’s Endowment totals US$374.5 million and has US$828.9 million in commitments.

Are you interested in supporting or learning more about our Foundation? Ask Tamara Larsen, Foundation Chair, for information.
