Last Wednesday Youth Services Co-chair, James, and club president, Stan, met online with U of A Rotaract president, Koyee, and vice President, Janisse. They shared their goals and projects for the Rotary year and we discussed how our two clubs can help support each other. What an amazing group of young adults! Whyte Avenue Rotary Club is looking forward to working with the U of A Rotaract Club again this year.
Access Online Courses Through ToastMasters
An alliance was announced earlier this year between Rotary International and Toastmasters International. Toastmasters will develop eight online courses, the first four of which are already available to anyone with a MyRotary account in the Rotary Learning Centre:
Community Service Opportunities with The Mustard Seed
The Mustard Seed has some opportunities for our club members to engage in Community Service, such as cooking and delivering meals or sorting items in their donation centre. Please email Kristin if you are interested in participating in any of these community service activities.
District 5370 is proud to recognize those clubs and individuals who have made great contributions to their community and the world through Rotary. The District presents several types of awards to recognize clubs and projects. Nominations may be made by any District 5370 Rotarian and require the endorsement of the 2019-2020 Club President or Assistant Governor on behalf of a District 5370 Rotary club.
Our club achieved the bronze-level hero status for Shelterbox for the second Rotary year in a row! That means that we raised over $1,200 per year for the past two Rotary years.
SheterBox's mission is a world where no family is left without shelter after disaster, and our club has helped them to reach over 32,000 families during the past Rotary year in in Ethiopia, Somaliland, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, The Philippines, Paraguay, Vanuatu, and Bangladesh.
Whyte Avenue Rotary has stylish Rotary-branded face masks for sale for just $20 each. They will spread awareness of Rotary while helping prevent the spread of COVID-19. They even cover beards! Thank you Marilyn Mucha for donating these to the club.
