Casino Update - volunteers still required!
We are excited to have our FIRST casino as a major fundraiser for our club. 
 
This is a very important event for our club in making an impact in our community. Thank you to those who have already signed up! 
 
It is important that we fill all of the shifts so please BE ONE and BRING ONE!

I wanted to provide an update on how we're doing on filling volunteer position for our Casino dates.  We're doing pretty well and thank you to all of you who have already signed up. There are some slots still open and I have listed them below. There are also duty descriptions and the new shift times which are now shorter.

Rotary Adventure in Human Rights
Ania Szcena from Poland
 
The Rotary Adventure in Human Rights program is one where over 20 young leaders come to Winnipeg to participate in the National Human Rights Leadership program in collaboration with Rotary District 5550 youth programs and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. 
 
This year, a young leader from Poland, Anna Szczena, will be joining 20 other young leaders for a week of learning and inspiration. 
 
Join us Tuesday, August 23 to hear about this dynamic program from both Tamara Larson, Program Director, and RAHR student Anna! 
 
We will be meeting IN PERSON, along with a zoom link for those who wish to log in, at the following:

As we reconnect and imagine our Rotary future, we are going to try something different.

Rotary District 5370 Global Grant Scholar Haley Stang

Haley grew up on a farm in rural Canada, before moving to England to pursue a Biomedical Engineering degree. Throughout her upbringing she played elite level ice-hockey, fastball and volleyball, these experiences shaped a significant portion of her leadership characteristics.

During high school, Haley took as many classes as possible including studying with the year above. It was at this time in high school Haley founded a Rotary International Youth Club; Interact and lead this club to a humanitarian trip that same year.

Following high school, Haley was involved with The University of Alberta's Rotaract club, serving as the community service chair. Soon after Haley began district roles in District 5370 and was on the executive team for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards North America for three years. Haley has served as The Canadian Delegate to The United Nations at the Headquarters in New York City, USA on two separate occasions.

Haley was a member of The Sheffield Engineering Leadership Academy, learning from industry leaders within engineering. Most recently Haley works within a biomedical research lab at Harvard Medical School.

Haley's career goals are to move onto being a medical doctor, while utilizing her engineering background to bring forth an innovation focus to individualized medical care.

When Haley isn't studying, or serving her community, she enjoys anything outdoors, coffee, travelling, cooking, horse back-riding, film photography and learning German!

Online fundraising initiatives
Thank you to all who donated to our summer auction. Due to some challenges out of control, the Set for Summer auction was delayed. 
 
After discussion, consideration of our timeline and the work required to make our online fundraising efforts a success, the committee decided to combine this online auction with our Holiday Spirit Auction in November so we can focus our efforts on our casino as well as expand and create a bigger and better event coming up. 
 
We would be most grateful to those who generously donated items to hang on to them and we can include in our Holiday Spirit Auction. The item donated will make great Christmas gift for loved ones. 
 
AND, we are now starting to collect items for our Holiday Spirit Auction so watch for details. Thank you in advance for your support of this important fundraiser for our club.
