McDougall House Helps Rebuild Lives

Laurie de Grace visited with Rotary Whyte Avenue members on Tuesday to talk about how McDougall House supports women struggling with addiction and how they help prevent relapse. McDougall House is a “second stage” residential addiction treatment facility for women where they help to prepare clients to better understand and address the dynamics behind their addictions. At McDougall House, each individual recovery plan is focused on the goals of the client. Laurie provided an informative look at their services and gave members and friends a personal look at how people can overcome addiction. Thank you Laurie for the fascinating and thoughtful presentation!

Whyte Ave Rotarian Helps Young Leaders Learn About Human Rights
Rotary Whyte Ave's very own Tamara Larson helped make this year's Rotary Adventure in Human Rights a success! Rotary Adventures in Human Rights is a 5 day human rights leadership experience for high school students in Winnipeg in partnership with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. This year, Tamara supported 24 young leaders, 8 from our own District 5370, from across Canada to learn about genocide, gender equality, discrimination, racism, immigrants versus refugees, Truth and Reconciliation and so much more. Highlights include a reception at Government House with Lieutenant Governor Janice Filmon, a day at IRCOM (Immigrant and Refugee Centre of Manitoba), Rotary Community BBQ in Central Park and learning at the CMHR. Way to go Tamara!
