Whyte Ave Rotarians came out to make a big difference for our less fortunate neighbours in the Old Strathcona area this Christmas.
In years past, our club has prepared a Christmas feast, but this year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we came up with a Christmas-to-go option for those in the shelters at Knox and Strathcona Baptist Church locations.
Special festive dessert packages were assembled by Marilyn Mucha and her niece, Ashton.
Hand-written holiday greetings were provided by Kristin Jennings and friend of the club, Simone Desilets.
The desserts and Tim Horton's gift cards were handed out with by Kelly Sysak and Mike Brandingen.
@rooster_kitchen cooked up meals to go along with hot chocolate for our Neighbour Centre friends, and James Cameron, along with member prospects Sue Belair and Saad Iqbal, added our dessert goodies along with an A&W gift card and hand-written greetings.
We are grateful to the Mustard Seed/Neighbour Centre coordinator, Erin Chrystian, who brought us all together to make things a little brighter and to continue fostering our partnership in service.

With it being so cold out right now, please remember you can call 311 if you see someone in need of assistance.
The City of Edmonton has activated its extreme weather response to help keep vulnerable Edmontonians safe during the cold weather expected in the coming days. The response will remain in effect until the weather improves. There will be 3 days notice before the response is deactivated.
The activation includes the operation of dedicated ETS bus routes to transport people to shelters and the temporary expansion of emergency shelter space during the extreme cold.

2. The second piece of news is...we have a tentative Casino date for the Fall of 2022!!!!!!!!!!
This is great news as we thought we might have to wait until 2023 for a Casino date as COVID had put a halt to things and those that were booked pre-Covid were first on the list.
It's a double whammy good news.
