Every year, ShelterBox Canada says thank you to Rotary Clubs for their incredible support with the ShelterBox Canada Hero Awards. Natural disasters and conflict are inevitable and frequent, and the need is continuous. A ShelterBox Canada Hero is a Rotary Club that has identified the continuing need to prepare for disasters and respond at a moment’s notice. Clubs are recognized based on their total annual giving throughout the Rotary year and all donations that are fundraised or donated by the club are included in Hero recognition. For the third year in a row, The Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue has been awarded with a Bronze Hero award from ShelterBox Canada!
ShelterBox has now provided aid to 2,000,000 people across 98 countries! While it took 15 years to help 1 million people, The Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue has helped ShelterBox reach their second million in the space of just 5.5 years. Our club is proud that we could contribute to help improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of families affected by disaster and conflict.

Plus, polio vaccination infrastructure has already been of assistance in fighting Covid-19.
The Rotary Foundation’s founder Arch C Klumph said: “The Rotary Foundation is not to build monuments of brick and stone. If we work upon marble, it will perish; if we work on brass, time will efface it….but if we work upon immortal minds, if we imbue them with the full meaning of the spirit of Rotary, we are engraving on those tablets something that will brighten all eternity. "
The educational, humanitarian and PolioPlus Programs are the monuments of The Rotary Foundation and Rotarians should be proud to yell it from the rooftops. We will eradicate polio, hunger and poverty. We will help the world find peace. By supporting The Rotary Foundation with an annual gift you help build these immortal monuments of Rotary.
