Making a Difference One Dodged Ball at a Time!

This past Saturday, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue held it's inaugural Dodge the Streets charity dodgeball tournament in support of Youth Empowerment and Support Services!

Saturday turned out to be a fantastic day as 26 teams descended on the Saville Community Sport Centre to compete for the coveted cookie medals made famous through Hockey Night on Whyte! This tournament had 4 divisions, with the Men’s/Women’s divisions each having 6 teams, the co-ed Competitive having 10 teams, and the co-ed Recreational having 4 teams.

The Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Ave also competed in the recreational league and won bronze (and won a lot of hearts as well, I would imagine!).

Rotary Whyte Ave was lucky to partner with Dodgeball Canada and Dodgeball Edmonton to put this event on in support of YESS!  Total funds raised are being confirmed as we speak. Thank you to these great partners for making the 1st Dodge the Streets tournament such a success!

Thank you to everyone who made it out and everyone who supported!

Trip to Nova Cannabis a New High Point for the Club!

This past Tuesday, Rotary Whyte Avenue members and friends went to Nova Cannabis off Whyte to learn about this new and exciting industry! Store manager Chris Ianson gave members and friends a new understanding of the cannabis industry and how it has evolved since cannabis legalization. Chris explained how a big part of their business was providing education and ensuring that cannabis is consumed responsibly.  Thank you to Rotary Whyte Ave's own Marilyn Mucha for organizing the trip and to everyone who made it out!

Scaring off Polio with Pumpkin Carving Halloween Party!

Rotary is carving pumpkins and you're invited!

On Oct. 29, Rotary is holding a Halloween party that includes a costume contest, silent auction prizes, and (of course) pumpkin carving! A portion of all foods and drink purchases will also go towards eradicating polio. If you would like to carve a pumpkin, please contact Tamara (larson.tamarac@gmail.com) so we know how many to purchase! Only those who confirm that they want to carve pumpkins will be guaranteed a pumpkin (though we will try to accommodate everyone).

A $10 donation is requested to go towards eradicating polio.
