This coming week we have no speaker scheduled, so we thought we would use the opportunity to discuss how our club might support Ukraine in this crisis. Tamara and Stan B. will lead a brainstorming session, so please bring your ideas.
We hope you can join us by clicking the link below on Tuesday.
Kelly Sysak is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
Rotary International Statement on the Ukraine Conflict
It is a tragic and sad time for the people of Ukraine and the world.
At Rotary, we are deeply concerned by the deteriorating situation in Ukraine and the escalating loss of life and humanitarian hardship there. Continued military action against Ukraine will not only devastate the region, but also risk spreading tragic consequences across Europe and the world.
As one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, we have made peace the cornerstone of our global mission. We join the international community in calling for an immediate cease fire, withdrawal of Russian forces, and a restoration of diplomatic efforts to resolve this conflict through dialogue.
In the past decade, Rotary clubs in Ukraine, Russia and nearby countries have transcended national differences and have actively engaged in peace-building projects to promote goodwill and to marshal assistance for the victims of war and violence. Today, our thoughts are with our fellow Rotary members and others in Ukraine coping with these tragic events. Rotary International will do everything in its power to bring aid, support and peace to the region.

Support for Ukraine
As Rotarians, we want to do everything we can to help the people of Ukraine. Several of you have reached out directly to me seek information about how we can provide support.
ShelterBox our project partner for disaster response has been in communication with Rotary members in Eastern Europe and is seeking donations to offer support with temporary transitional housing and other essential supplies. https://www.shelterbox.org
Contact Alison Sutherland, Director, Rotary Action Group for Peace at ypalison@yahoo.co.uk for more information on the petition.
Many of our members have friends and family whose lives are directly impacted by this crisis. In each of our clubs you know these people. Please reach out to them and be generous in your compassion and support.
As more information becomes available, RI will advise how members can provide humanitarian relief to the people of Ukraine on MyRotary.org. We will continue to update you as we learn more.

Shelterbox Support For Ukraine
ShelterBox is responding to the Ukraine crisis. Our teams have arrived in Poland and are working to understand how best we can help people affected by this crisis. We will be sending aid and are liaising with others to avoid duplication and ensure as many people as possible get the support they need.
This is an emergency, and we need your help. The UN is reporting hundreds of thousands of people on the move inside the country or trying to leave. More than 1 million people have already fled Ukraine. They are predicting as many as 18 million people will be affected by this crisis and in need of humanitarian assistance, including 4 million refugees. In recent days, homes in Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed. Innocent civilians are being killed, families and lives are being torn apart.
This is a major humanitarian crisis.
Your support today will provide lifesaving aid for families affected by the Ukraine crisis. Any additional money raised over what is needed for our Ukraine response will help us provide emergency shelter to families affected by disasters around the world.
This is a rapidly developing situation; there will be more updates in the coming days.
If you are experiencing any difficulties on our website or making a donation, please call us at 647-352-1930. Thank you so much for your support.

Hello everyone!
There is an ever-pressing need to support our community partners in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our six previous make-ahead meal events were so well received, we are organizing another one! Again, we are going to make individual meals for the eleven folks supported by the Skills Society, who are living at Melcor YMCA Village.
I am asking members/friends of our club to make 11 individually-portioned meals to be ready for pick-up (or we may have a centralized drop-off location) on the evening of Tuesday, March 29th. Please have your meals packaged in new, microwave-safe, individual containers. Please label your containers with the name of the meal and the date made. Of note: you do not need to list out the ingredients in the meals/baked goods.
We will have someone deliver the pre-packaged meals and baked goods to Melcor (you can pass your meals along either having been refrigerated or frozen).
The health of our members and the folks we support is of utmost importance. Please do not sign up or make meals if you (or a loved one in your home) are feeling under the weather. If you sign up to cook a meal, and become symptomatic of any illness, please be in contact with me and we can find you a replacement.
Please make sure to follow hand hygiene practices when shopping, prepping and packing your meals - let's all do our part to minimize the risk of spread of disease.
Of the 11 people whom we are meal prepping for, 2 of the individuals are living with diabetes. Please be concise of making your meal 'heart healthy' with reduced sugar content. If you need help meal planning, please don't hesitate to reach out! There are no other allergies or food intolerances to be aware of for meal preparation.
If you want to support this initiative but are unable to cook or bake meals, please reach out to me and we can figure out where your efforts are best suited.
I will be in touch with each of the volunteers to arrange pick-up times on the evening of March 29th.
Thank you!
