This 5K & 10K Fun Run/Walk to raise funds to eradicate polio is a Rotary Days of Service Project, co-sponsored by Rotary District 5370 and the Rotary Club of Edmonton Riverview.
Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and others are encouraged to sign up to complete their virtual 5K or 10K walk or run any time between September 11 and 19.
The Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue is planning a virtual group walk with COVID safety protocols in place.

There are MANY trails and you can walk as far as you wish! AND invite family and friends to join you!

Registrations and all donations will go towards the eradication of polio. Any funds raised will be attributed to your clubs fund raising to support polio eradication.
* This does not include expenses and processing fees.
When you register, please make sure you select Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue so our club gets the recognition for the polio funds raised!

As well donors will receive a charitable donation receipt for monies donated less the administration fee of 6.5 % of the donation.

As part of the recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Thursday September 30th, Edmonton West and YEG Passport Rotary Clubs are making orange shirts available to raise awareness and raise funds for Indigenous organizations.
Marilyn Mucha is taking orders for any of our club members that are interested in getting a shirt. They will cost $20 each. A very big Thank You to Marilyn for taking the lead on this initiative.
There is a short timeline on this with a deadline to order is Tuesday, September 7th – please connect if you have any concerns.
T-Shirts will be ready for pick up in Edmonton the week of September 13th.

To recognize Orange Shirt day, Root for Trees encourages citizens to reflect on Residential schools and their lasting impacts on generations of people. Root for Trees will be giving away trees, shrubs, and wildflowers as a way to honor the victims, families, friends, and intergenerational survivors.
Edmontonians are invited to pick up a plant, speak with an Elder and plant their tree as an act of reconciliation. Root for Trees is taking the initiative to listen, connect, advocate, and partner with Indigenous Peoples, as outlined in the City of Edmonton’s Indigenous Framework. We encourage fellow Edmontonians to do the same and join us on Thursday, September 30th from 10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Hawrelak Park.
Our club, members of the YEG Passport Club and friends spent Wednesday evening planting fruit and nut trees - cranberries, gooseberries, saskatoon and hazelnuts as part of City of Edmonton Root for Trees initiative.
Thanks to everyone who came out to help expand, care for and protect our urban forest.

This past Tuesday was such a great evening for a fellowship event at Hawrelak Park! Thanks to @rooster_kitchen for providing dinner and to everyone who came out. It was so nice to see all the smiling faces!
Roman Bayrock and wife Sandra ( RC Edmonton Riverview) are spearheading a project for Belize in conjunction with the next SeaCan of playgrounds and assorted surplus equipment headed down at the end of the month/early September.
Their goal is to collect 250 wedding gowns, veils etc. to send down to the women in Belize looking to set up a resale shop to give them some economic opportunities. They have over 150 so far.
