Member Spotlight

Each newsletter we will be focusing on a club member to learn a bit more about them, why they joined Rotary and what makes them stay. This week we feature Mike Greaney.

I'm Mike Greaney and I'm the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue's Secretary and Membership Co-Chair. I joined Rotary in 2017 in preparation for my transition into retirement from retail management.

I wanted to contribute to my community and I found the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” as well as their extensive history of successful local and global projects very compelling. I also found the Edmonton Whyte Avenue Rotary Club's members quite welcoming, personable, and eager to include me in their inspired endeavours.

I've lived in the Whyte Avenue area since 1992 and currently reside with my wife, one of my two daughters, our cat, and a recently acquired Boston Terrier puppy who is absolutely certain the universe revolves around him. Any spare time, which has been surprisingly rare lately, is dedicated to enjoying music and movies.

Mike is seen here recently delivering Whyte Avenue Rotary's donation to the 2026 Staples School Supply Drive. L to R Assistant Store Manager Carol Wesseling, Mike, and Store Manager Rob Soria.
