Please join us this week for our changeover party. It's a time to celebrate the great year we've had and mark the transition to the new leadership team. Thank you to Co-Presidents Jennifer and Elizabeth for all their hard work. Take a look at the club's accomplishments:
New Meeting/Donation Model
2025-26 was a fantastic year for our club which saw the start of our successful member driven meeting/donation model. Each month, members took turns selecting an area of focus where a charity of their choice made a presentation to the club and received a $1000.00 donation. These causes covered a broad range of categories which included supporting animal welfare, Edmonton Pride Center, youth, seniors, gender equality, and the environment. We also made a generous donation to Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton and their Big Build campaign.
End Polio Now
Polio eradication continues to be a main focus. Our annual Paint for Polio fundraiser remains a favourite event and was featured in Rotary International Magazine this year.
Service and Socials
We had impactful service outings at the Edmonton Food Bank and also the Skills Society, and enjoyed social visits to the Cat Cafe, Oil Kings Hockey Game Polio Fundraiser, and Riverhawks game. Other social activities included a games night Christmas Party.
Rotary Youth Leadership
Emelda, our youth chair, oversaw a busy year. Our support of Rotary youth camps and the UofA Rotaract Club continued, along with sending students to Adventures in Citizenship in Winnipeg, and Adventures in Agriculture in Regina. All the students involved expressed their gratitude with enthusiastic presentations to the club.
Trivia Night & Sports Central
Our successful Trivia Night fundraiser saw a full house of supporters enjoy competition, participate in a silent auction, and help raise funds for Sports Central. Last month we were able to tour their brand new facility which will help even more low-income Edmonton area children participate in sports.
Rotary District 5370 Participation
The club sent members to the Fall Assembly in Edmonton as well as the recent District Convention in Whitehorse. Learning and connection remain important benefits to participation in Rotary.
And finally, many of our endeavours are only made possible through our Casino Fundraising. Thank you to all who volunteered their time and ensured the future success of club programs.
