Learning about Edmonton's River Valley

River Valley Alliance (RVA) Executive Director Brent Collingwood joined the club last Tuesday and gave a great presentation on the RVA's ongoing work. The organization shares stewardship of an 18,000 acre area, about 18 times the size of Vancouver’s Stanley Park. Rotarians and guests learned about the history of Edmonton's river valley and how it was initially an industrial hub. Brent explained how, at one time, city planners wanted to turn it into a garbage dump! Each of the Alliance’s initiatives aim for a balanced approach to preserve, protect and enhance the river valley.
