At our most recent meeting, members were treated to a heartfelt and informative presentation by Pride Centre of Edmonton Operations Manager Lisa Whitney (front row, 2nd from left).
PRIDE CENTRE OF EDMONTON
- creating a safe space for diverse community members to connect to identity, establish a sense of belonging in community, connect to culture, and experience queer joy.
We were all impressed at the number of people who use the Pride Centre and amazed at what it is able to offer on a tight budget. Lisa explained that the team serves 2SLGTBQUI and individuals in a number of ways: youth ages 12-24, Queer and Trans Adults 18+, several weekly drop-in sessions, aid for newcomers to Canada, seniors, and Queer families/carers/allies/chosen families. Programming at the centre is free. It also offers a Community Closet and the largest Queer library in Western Canada. Expert information is available as well as resources, referrals and outreach.
We are still looking for volunteers for several casino shifts coming up in May. Thank you to all who have volunteered quickly to fill key positions. Here is what's still needed:

Please let Elizabeth know if you can cover a shift - two nights would be even better (please note: you must do the same job on both dates).
