Celebrating a New Rotary Year
Whyte Avenue Rotary rang in the new Rotary year with an exciting online changeover party. Some members tuned in "on location" for a social distance watch party at Rooster Cafe & Kitchen. To kick off the evening, soon-to-be-president Stan Bissell demonstrated how to make a mojito and a mint julep and then President Kevin McLeod looked back at all the amazing things the club accomplished this past Rotary year. Tim Onciul presented the Whyte Knight Award to Kristin Jennings for her dedication, and especially for keeping our club connected to community service during the pandemic. Tamara Larsen wrapped up the meeting by presenting Paul Harris awards to five club members! With so many reasons to celebrate, the fun kept going at Rooster Cafe & Kitchen even after the online meeting ended.
Whyte Knight Award
Kristin is the latest recipient of the Whyte Knight Award. Kristin's dedication and leadership as our community service chair has kept our club engaged in community service all year. Her drive and initiative meant that hundreds of meals were prepared and delivered to those in need during the days of pandemic lock down. Congratulations Kristin!

Paige and Matthew welcomed Edison Louis Reeves Bilyk into the world on June 30th! We are so excited for you and can't wait to meet little Edison.
Congratulations Tamara!
Rotary International President Holger Knaack has invited Tamara Larson to be a member of Rotary International Leadership Development and Training Committee for the next two Rotary years. The Leadership Development and Training Committee, specifically provides guidance and advice to the Board on Rotary’s leadership training programs for Rotarians, clubs and districts, with a special emphasis on training for district governors.
Congratulations to Tamara for her appointment to this committee. Her vast knowledge and experience regarding Rotary programs for young leaders, youth protection policies, risk management protocols and her professional experience in curriculum design, leadership development, mentorship, human rights, peace building and stakeholder relations will bring a unique perspective to future development of Rotary leadership training for every aspect of Rotary.
Paul Harris Fellow Recognition
Five Whyte Avenue Rotary members were recognized with Paul Harris awards during the changeover meeting. Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 USD or more to The Rotary Foundation. Rotarians have a tradition of supporting the Foundation by honoring others. Congratulations Kevin, Darren, Stan B, Lynne, and Scott on your recognition awards!
