Meeting of the Chairs!

Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Ave Committee Chairs came together last Tuesday to take stock of the year so far and plan for the future! 

Our Club takes a week every month to focus on committee business. This past Tuesday, committee chairs discussed the upcoming October 1 Club Assembly as well as ways to strengthen club communication, engagement, and fundraising. Our chairs do incredible work and we are lucky to have them leading the way on behalf of our Club! Thank you to everyone who made it out!

Ways to Support Dodge the Streets Charity Tournament
 
Want to help make the Dodge the Streets Charity dodge ball tournament a success? You can help out! Here are the ways you can support:
  1. Help connect us with sponsors! If you know of any organizations that may be interested to support, please feel free to have them get in contact with Tim (tim.onciul@silvacom.com) or Kevin (kggmcleod@hotmail.com)! 

  2. Join the Rotary Dodge Ball Team! The cost is $30 a person to play and anyone can join!  Click here to register for our team.

  3. Spread the word!  If you think of anyone who may want to support, take part, or just come and watch the dodge ball tournament, make sure you let them know!  

  4. Volunteer!  Stay tuned for opportunities to volunteer on this event.

Rotary Whyte Avenue News
Rotary Supporting Human Rights
Our very own Tamara Larson was invited to speak at a special gala to share the success stories and impact of the National Human Rights Leadership Program for young leaders. This program helps young leaders become change makers and learn how to support human rights in the world.  Rotary District 5370 Youth Services offers high school students from our District the opportunity to attend this National Human Rights Leadership Program at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for a week of learning, growth and connecting. 
 
For all her work supporting this program, Tamara was one of the selected invitees to this Friends of the Human Rights Museum event, held in Calgary. While there, she spoke of the important work of Rotary and also rubbed shoulders with celebrities, such as K.D. Lang!  Way to go Tamara!

The Foundation Committee is meeting this week and you're invited! 
 
The Rotary Foundation Committee helps spread the word and build support for humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives. The Foundation is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation. Accordingly, this committee helps support the foundation through fundraising, education activities, and program participation.
 
The agenda for the meeting includes planning a Halloween related event on Oct. 29 and brainstorming future events.  Interested? feel free to email Kevin (kggmcleod@hotmail.com) for more information!
