Jennifer Laughton, Elizabeth Bonkink, Stan Kodric, Arshi Mirza, Phuc-Thanh Nguyen, and Marianne Auch represented our club at this year's district conference in Whitehorse, Yukon. It was a great time to learn, get motivated, and connect with fellow Rotarians.
Indigenous Programming was evident throughout the conference. Other topics included polio eradication, global citizenship and promoting peace.
Whyte Avenue Rotary went out for supper to celebrate Elizabeth's birthday. Later that evening, our club members shut down the dance floor at the social.

Operation Friendship Seniors Society
Our club was treated to a heartfelt and enthusiastic presentation from the Operation Friendship Seniors Society as part of our May theme honouring Edmonton's seniors. Jimmy Morrison of OFSS (in the jersey) is seen here with Mike Greaney who organized this month's theme, and co-presidents Jennifer and Elizabeth. The OFSS provides preventative social services to the seniors of Edmonton's inner city, and manages several safe, affordable non-institutional housing options. They also offer access to resources, help with paperwork, connections to volunteers, and clothing/toiletries/housewares through its distribution center.
