Paul Moulton, Executive Director of The Edmonton Arts Council, walked us through the intriguing and incredibly valuable not-for-profit organization that supports and promotes the arts community in Edmonton. As a peer-governed entity, the EAC is charged with distributing funds to a very large number of arts organizations in the city, and increases the profile and involvement of arts and culture in all aspects of our community life. The EAC invests in Edmonton festivals, arts organizations, public art and individual artists through municipal, corporate and private funding, and represents Edmonton’s arts community to government and other agencies and provides expert advice on issues that affect the arts community. It is governed by over 400 members, and provide a valuable and far-reaching role in our local community. And as a surprise to many at our meeting, EAC runs 'Tix On the Square" on Churchill square, which helps promote and sell tickets for many of our smaller city arts and music venues!ImageImage
