Brick Art by Aaron
Nov. 07, 2017
"I'm a young entrepreneur based in Edmonton Alberta Canada and I happen to have autism. My passion is building LEGO® sets and art pieces. I build store display models for the busiest LEGO® Store in Canada and have just recently launched my portrait business using genuine LEGO® bricks with help from my family and supports. I'm excited to launch my small business so I can put my talents for organizing, following patterns and being precise to good use around taking your photos and turning them into amazing ART Mosaics!" Can you donate any stocking stuffer items? Donations can include:
For how many people: 56 stockings in total (For 26 men and 29 women).
When is it needed by? It would be helpful if we can have all the donations before Tuesday, December 5.
How to donate: If you have a donation, please contact Lauren (lmemery@ualberta.ca) or Kevin (kggmcleod@hotmail.com). You can bring your donated items to one of our Rotary meetings or contact Lauren or Kevin to have them picked up.
We will then put the stockings together with the Skills Society on December 5, 2017 at their office (10408 124 Street NW, Edmonton).
Last year, these stockings were greatly valued by the people supported by the Skills Society and for some it may be the only gift they receive at Christmas time due to lack of personal supports and isolation.
As always, thank you for all of your help in making the great things our club does possible. If you have any questions, please contact either Lauren or Kevin at any time!

Mar. 16, 2018 - Mar. 18, 2018
On the weekend of Friday March 16 to Sunday March 18, we will be hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, biking, walking, shopping, and eating pizza in beautiful Jasper Alberta! We have one planned group event - pizza at Jasper Pizza, at 6 pm on the Saturday. The rest of the weekend you are free to do as you please - some of us are arriving Friday night and leaving Sunday night, but you can come and leave as you schedule allows. Some of us will be skiing (and getting a personal guided tour of Marmot Basin by our own Marmot Patroller Scott Young). Please make your own hotel reservations - some of us are staying at the Crimson Hotel (https://mpljasper.com/hotels/crimson), but feel free to stay wherever you wish - but book soon as Jasper is busy at this time of year. Please register for the event on this site, or contact TIM ONCIUL (tim.onciul@silvacom.com, 780 975 2160) if you plan on attending, so we can get some idea as to numbers for the pizza outing on Saturday night. We look forwards to seeing you there! |

Thanks! GREAT Job!
Apr. 03, 2018
Nelson Scott will speaking to our club about: "Improve retention, boost morale and increase engagement with high-value, low-cost staff recognition. Your resources— time and money—may be limited, but that doesn’t have to prevent you from recognizing staff in ways that they will value. There are simple, easy-to-use tools and techniques that you can use to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of staff, volunteers and others in your life." |

Amarok Society
Apr. 17, 2018
Gem Munro will speak about how Amarok Society provides education to the poorest children in the city slums of Bangladesh and Pakistan in a unique way; rather than opening schools for children, we teach their mothers. Each mother then becomes a neighbourhood teacher, allowing Amarok Society to economically reach far more children than with the traditional school model. In particular, Gem will speak to the social impact of education and the lives of the women who are transforming their communities. |
