Citizen Utility Board Visits Rotary Lakeview

Celia Christensen of the Citizens Utility Board (CUIB) was our speaker on August 18.  She explained the origins of the Board, which is to inform and advocate for Illinois citizens on all issues of cost of utilities, such as ComEd and the phone companies.  (Gov. Pat Quinn was a founding member.) CUB publishes "CUB Facts" and updates it weekly. It is filled with current information on rates, possible changes, and pricing comparisons of various utilities programs available to Illinois energy consumers. This material is available to all, and CUB also maintains phone lines to assist ciizens and answer questions on these issues plus conservation, recycling, bulb purchases and disposal, as well as many other topics. Also attending our Thursday meeting was a group from India.
