Jayanta Chatterji will showcase some inspiring Rotarian led work in West Bengal, India. Projects have included educating girls and women, preventing child trafficking, and elevating people out of extreme poverty.

The Rotary Foundation has provided more than US $721,000 in Rotary grants through the Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan for the Piyali community including the Piyali Learning Center. These partnerships between PACE Universal, The Rotary Foundation and Rotarians has led to project collaborations in India and around the world.

When he was 15 years old, he volunteered with Mother Teresa at the Prem Dan (Gift of Love) Leprosy Home and Nirmal Hriday (Pure Heart) Home. In 1991, he helped organize the “Rashid Sings for Mother” benefit to support Mother Teresa and a local hospital. Today he proudly serves as the District Rotary Foundation Coordinator in District 3291 which covers 11 revenue districts in the state of West Bengal including Kolkata.
