One of our most popular service events each year is our Night Ministry Meal Packing night, and this year we are bringing it back in a virtual environment! Join us on Wednesday, January 20th as we turn our club meeting into a virtual service event/social hour! During our meeting we'll be packing 100 meals for our pals at The Night Ministry! No speaker, no program - just service! Interested in participating in this service event? We are looking for 4-5 volunteers to help us virtually pack 100 sack meals. Depending on the number of people interested in volunteering, each volunteer will be responsible for grocery shopping for and packing 20-25 meals. Each meal will include the following: 1 sandwich, 1 bag of chips, 1 dessert/treat, fruit (we usually do clementines) and 1 bottle of water. For this project, we will each need to do our own grocery shopping, but we will work with Mark to get you reimbursed directly for any expenses you may incur! Once you register for this service event, we'll send out a more detailed email with further instructions. All meals must be dropped off at the Night Ministry's offices on Thursday, January 21st by 4pm at the latest. Their offices are located at: 1735 N Ashland Ave., Chicago, IL 60622 If you would like to volunteer to prepare meals, but don't have a car or are unable to drop off the food on 1/21, please let us know and we can work together to find a way to transport your meals. |

May 19, 2021 - Jun. 11, 2021
The Rotary LGBT Fellowship is promoting a service project leading up to the 2021 Rotary International Virtual Convention (June 12 – June 16, 2021)! The LGBT Fellowship is asking for the family of Rotary to sponsor a Food Drive to support a local LGBT+ friendly food pantry in our area as part of their greater service project leading up to the Convention. We are excited to announce that this year, we will be hosting a food drive in support of our friends at the Night Ministry! Food items that the Night Ministry has a large need for are individually-wrapped snack items. As such, for this food drive we will be collecting items such as:
As we know from our annual meal-packing events, they use these items to pack snack bags for clients. Our food drive will run from now until Friday, June 11th! We will be hosting a hybrid meeting coming up on Wednesday, May 26th, so we encourage you to bring snack items with you to Select Cut if you can make it that day! Otherwise please reach out to Amy Hopkins or Nick Fairman and they can work with you to set up a donation drop off time. Instacart or other grocery delivery services could work for drop off too! Just make sure to coordinate a time with Amy/Nick to ensure the items are received! Please feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions at all! We're looking forward to being able to support one of our long-time partners with this food drive! |
