Tour of Madonna Rehab at Village Point
Thank you to John Glenn, Mary Gene Wepfer, and staff for hosting the WDC Rotary Club on Thursday, Jan 19th and for giving us a wonderful tour of their nearly $10 million facility. They showcased how they support patients with everything from multi-million dollar machines and technology, to the smallest details of navigating home life after leaving the rehab facility. For more details on this amazing facility, please visit https://www.madonna.org/our-locations/omaha-campus

RYLA Camp Sponsorships
My name is Emira Ibrahimpasic, and I am writing to you today on behalf of Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) of the Rotary District 5650.  As you may be aware every April our district coordinates Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp.  RYLA camp (April 7-9, 2017) is an intensive 3-day training program for High School Juniors that helps participants think critically about important issues and share ideas with talented peers, learn how to coordinate and lead community service projects, discuss the importance of good governance and civil society to the world, and finally, learn to think globally and explore issues that transcend national and cultural boundaries.

To make the camp a success we seek students from diverse backgrounds throughout the district.  Diversity in this context refers to any student who is interested in local and global issues and whose participation in this program would help expand and add to their current experiences and perspectives. We seek your help to spread the word about this amazing opportunity and to encourage students you believe would benefit from this experience to apply.

For more information about the program please visit: http://rotarydistrict5650.org/SitePage/ryla
In addition you can visit our Facebook page: http://tinyurl.com/hsduvmq

Finally, this year we have a new application option for students.  Our online application is now available at http://tinyurl.com/jr6mg3a
In addition to the online application we will still provide standard paper copy (see attached RYLA 2017 Application) that you can pass on to interested parties.

Once I receive an online application from the student I will pass it on to your club to review the application and decide if you will sponsor the student applicant.  Students will be notified of acceptance directly by your club and I ask that a list of accepted students be passed onto me at your earliest convenience.  The fee for sponsoring a student will remain $200 as in the past.  Once your club has selected students to participate please fill out and send the Club Commitment Form (see attachment) and check to:

Call for District Governor Nominee
DEADLINE for applications - February 17
Interviews will be held March 4

- - - - - -
I hope your club is having an outstanding year. District Governor Gary Bren has completed his official visits and has been singing your praises! Keep up the good work!

It is my responsibility as Immediate Past District Governor (IPDG) to chair the Nominating Committee who will select the next District Governor in line.

Next year's DG is Tom Cardwell followed in 2018-19 by Madeline Madden. We will be soliciting, reviewing, interviewing and selecting the District Governor for the year 2019-20.

I am attaching the Qualifications of a Governor-nominee as well as the official Governor-nominee Form.

Nominations must come from the Club. But all of you receiving this email can help the process - find individuals to serve in this position.

This individual serves as the chairperson of the Board and is the CEO of the District. The DG will serve as an ex-officio member of all District Committees except the Nominating Committee to serve in a future year. This is a one year term. Our District budget allows for the expenses of the Governor.

Thank you for your leadership and all you do for Rotary. Help us pick a terrific new leader for 2019-20.

Sent on behalf of:
