Below are the minutes from last week's meeting (September 3rd)
WDC Rotary's in-person 7:00 AM meeting was held on September 3rd, with 12 members in attendance, plus our speaker - Roger Holt. Judy and Larry Johansen again joined us via ZOOM.
Dave Rosacker provided our Opening Prayer and all joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Treasurer's Report: Rita reported our account balance as $8,858.13. The WDC Grant account balance remains at $2,070 - designated for the OPD Bike.
Bike Grant: The police bike in honor of Ron Mortensen has been ordered and will ship the first week of October. A photocopy of the bike is attached.
Public Relations: The next DC West Food Basket Drive will be Wednesday, September 9th from 4:30 - 5:30 at DC West school (and COPE). Please contact Jim Tomanek to assist with the distribution and transportation of the food ... volunteers are needed!
Scholarships: The Elkhorn Foundation's deadline for changes / updates to our scholarship criteria is October 1st.
Fines: Neil again collected several fines.
Other Business: President Tod again reminded everyone to wear their mask when entering and leaving Common Ground.
Future Speakers:
- September 10th Bary Habrock will provide a "back to school" update and discuss what the EPS District is doing in regard to COVID procedures, etc.
- September 17th, we will have a representative from Reichmuth Funeral Home. Rolly and Rita are bringing "breakfast and coffee" as part of their contribution to the day's speaker.
- September 24th, we will have our annual "meet and greet" with NFL referee Tripp Sutter ... don't miss it!
Next regular in-person meeting will be this Thursday, at Common Ground (7:00 AM - September 3rd).
Today's Speaker: Our guest speaker was Roger Holt - world traveler and friend of Mike Ough. Roger showed slides of his trip to Peru, to include several interesting facts about the county, their customs (they eat guinea pigs) and historical places of interest. Flights into Lima, the 10-million person capital are always at midnight! The country is best known for Machu Picchu, the Inca mountain citadel, reachable only by train, donkeys or llamas, but there are many other jungle and desert areas of interest. For those interested in finding their own excursion, Overseas Adventure Travel is Roger's company of preference.
