Greetings Rotarians! Mike will be presiding over this week's meeting while I'll be enjoying the sun and warmth of Florida. Guest speaker will be Jim Ratte, retired Navy Captain and former submarine officer. Jim will provide a presentation on Submarine Cold War Operations in the Arctic and share his numerous experiences at STRATCOM and the Pentagon. His insights regarding nuclear deterrence and cold-war negotiations should be very interesting. NOTE ... we will NOT have a ZOOM link this week and we will NOT have a meeting on February 17th. Our guest speaker on February 24th will be hunting guide and outdoorsman, Kyle Simpson. New / Other Business: - Scholarship applications will be available for review and evaluation in the upcoming weeks.
- Golf outing discussions continue, to include marketing strategies to increase participation, hole sponsors and overall revenue. Last week, club members voted to increase the per-player fee to $100.
- Signage opportunities were discussed ... In addition to golf outing signage, it was suggested that we get a large "Western Douglas County Rotary Meeting in Progress" sign to put in the window at Common Ground. Follow-up is needed.
- Club Leadership for 2022-23 is still a topic that needs addressed. Speaker ideas for future meetings are always needed!
Thanks ... see you in a couple of weeks! Tod |
