PRESIDENT JUDY

Happy cold day, Rotarians!  Let’s make a decision at our next meeting on the special project we want to work on and use to apply for a district grant.  I’ve heard some great ideas on ways to raise extra funds that don’t involve a ton of work and time.  Most comments I have heard about a project involve COPE.  In my opinion, COPE is a natural project for us, especially for our first go around with applying for a district grant.  Be sure and bring other ideas you have to our meeting this week.  If you can’t make it to the meeting and have ideas or want to make your thoughts known, send me an email and I will share your information at the meeting.

Stay warm!

MINUTES OF LAST WEEK'S MEETING
WDC Rotary Club
Meeting Minutes 1/24/19
We were led in prayer and pledge by Bary Habrock
We had 15 members present.  No guests today
Treasurer’s report:  $1,953.61
Member Moment:  Today it was Rita Kleeman’s chance to share her story with us.  It was very interesting, entertaining and enlightening.  On a personal note, one of my primary take-aways after listening to Rita is a full realization that she is PERFECT in her role as Treasurer of our club!
Announcements/discussion:
  • Jim updated us that COPE will be moving to its temporary home at Peace Presbyterian Church in mid-February.
  • Gail reminded us that the deadline for applying for a District Foundation Grant is May 31st.  The club will be discussing ideas in an upcoming meeting.
  • Judy again asked for input on the potential need for a President-elect.
  • The Rotary Scholarship Golf Outing is June 17th.  Hole sponsors are a major part in the fundraising effort. It’s never too early to solicit.
Presentation:
Jim introduced Melissa Poloncic, Superintendent at DC West Community Schools.  Melissa shared the plans and pictures of the current new and beautiful elementary school being built in Valley.   The DC West District is certainly fortunate to have Melissa at the helm!
Drawing Winner:  Gail drew a white ball and was devastated. (not really)
