President's Message

Greetings Rotarians and Friends of Rotary!

We have entered the long-hot days of summer ... actually the first day of summer is this week. Thanks to Rex and Ariel Moats (and Diane) for last week's slideshow presentation about Hawaii, Pearl Harbor and the USS Missouri, an Iowa-Class Battleship. The Missouri was retired after the Gulf War, but it was originally famous as the site of the Japanese surrender to end World War II in the Pacific.

This week, we will have a "Come as You Are - BYO Lunch" meeting. Nothing specific other than to encourage everyone to come and visit, relax, bring your own lunch, bring your dues and bring your Golf Outing funds (team reservations, sponsorship and raffle money). We need to make another push to identify other potential teams and sponsors for our July 17th golf outing.

Monday was the last District Governor's meeting for club Presidents, executives and administrators. I'm sure that DG Barbara will have a summary in her District newsletter, but it's worth noting that our district had the largest membership gain of any of the Rotary Districts in the Central US Zone. We were one of the few clubs in our District that gained at least 20% new members in 2022-23!

That's about it ... let me know if anyone has a last-minute speaker who would like to join us, either this Thursday or the following week (June 29). Jim Tomanek will be taking over as our new Club President on July 1st!

Thanks ... Hope to see you Thursday!

Tod
