Center Director/Center Owner, Teresa Kaelin

Teresa has a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Minnesota. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from St. Cloud State University.  She has worked for the last 8 years in the public schools as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. She also worked as a Speech Therapist in Early Childhood Special Education while she was in graduate school. She specializes in sensory processing and executive functioning. Teresa wanted to bring Brain Balance to Nebraska to help her own sons who struggle with ADHD, sensory processing, social skills, and behavior. Teresa has a passion to help kids and their families who struggle with neurodevelopmental issues. Teresa believes the Brain Balance Program changes the future for the children that come through the program, as well as, creates more positive and healthy family relationships.

FEBRUARY 9 MEETING NOTES
President Dan opened the meeting with an invocation and lead us in the pledge of allegiance.  There were no guests at the meeting.
Treasurer Rita reported a club checkbook balance of $6,221.22.
In the absence of Jim Tomanek, Richard Krueger reported on the Lunch Bunch meeting on Wednesday at Shevy's.  The program was given by folks from Eat-Fit-Go healthy foods.  Tod reported that volunteers are still welcome to work on the Scholarship Committee.

GREAT PLAINS COLON CANCER TASK FORCE

DR JOSH EVANS & KELLI SWEET

Our guests this morning were from the Great Plains Colon Task Force  The Great Plains Colon Cancer Task Force was formed in 1999 to increase public awareness of colon cancer and the importance of early detection and prevention. Health organizations, businesses, colon cancer survivors and volunteers throughout the community engaged in a comprehensive effort to get the community talking about colon cancer and to provide free colon cancer screenings.
 
Dr. Joshua Evans, a practicing Gastroenterologist with the MGI firm of 30 physicians, is a volunteer and President of the Task Force and Kelli Sweet with Union Pacific RR is also a volunteer and is Director of "ROLLIN TO COLON" which is one of their major awareness and fund raising events.
 
Kelli gave a slide presentation discussion of the general issue of Colon Cancer and Dr. Evans with specific discussion of medical aspects of colon screening, including the "beloved" colonoscopy.  He also discussed the medical aspects of colon cancer.
