President's Message

Hello Rotarians!

Welcome to the new Rotary year!  As I take over as President of our Western Douglas County Rotary club I want to again thank Judy for her last two years of dedicated service as President.  Her "volunteering" to serve a second term was key to the success of our club.  I will try my best to build on her giving spirit and leadership philosophy.

Thanks again!

Tod

SECRETARY REPORT
Below are the minutes from last week's meeting (July 2nd)
  • ZOOM meeting was conducted on July 2nd (11:30 AM), with 8 members participating, plus Larry Johansen again joining us as a guest (4 members checked-in prior to going on vacation)
  • President Tod conducted his first meeting as president, provided a 4th of July Prayer and led the Pledge of Allegiance
  • Treasurer's Report:  Account balance is $9,866.34.  The $15/member rebate from District will be reduced to $14.41 per member.  Annual club dues will be paid to District 5650 at the end of July
  • Membership:  Yearly membership for 2020-21 has been verified and finalized as twenty (20) individuals, plus one (1) Honorary (Del Morgan)
  • Scholarships: This year's scholarship recognition breakfast will not be held.  Tod will provide scholarship info to Jim so that he can prepare and mail the framed scholarship certificates to the three students (EHS, ESHS and DC West)
  • COPE Beef Grant:  Jim will provide a summary so that our club can submit an article for publishing in the Post Gazette
  • Bike Grant:  Final approval from Rotary International has been received. Gail will follow up with the bike manufacturer and OPD officials.  WDC Rotary's matching amount needs to be a minimum of $1,000.
  • Golf Outing:  Outing will be July 20th.   It now appears that we will be able to field at least 12-13 teams.  Hole sponsors are being confirmed but more are needed.  Mike and Jim are coordinating box lunches from Arby's. Contact Mike to volunteer, sign up your team ($90 per player), coordinate pin prizes or verify hole-sponsorships ($100 each).  District 5650 Assistant Governor (Scott Keep) will be fielding a team, in support of our outing.
  • Awards:  COPE Beef project, Rotary Bike project, COPE computer and Western Douglas County Flood Relief efforts were discussed as worthy of Rotary awards, to be submitted for recognition.
  • District Rotary Annual Conference will be July 25th (via ZOOM).  Judy and Tod will both try to participate
  • Next regular ZOOM meeting will be Thursday, July 9th at 11:30 AM.  ZOOM invitation will be sent via email.
