WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello, Rotarians!
Rotary Leadership Institute in coming up on March 28th at Dundee Presbyterian Church in Omaha.  I would encourage each member to consider attending.  At RLI, you will not only learn more about our organization called Rotary, you will also learn leadership skills that could help you in your profession and other areas of your life.  As a bonus, you will get to know other Rotary members and make connections that won’t end at RLI.  You may be surprised to find out who you know is also a Rotary member.  For more information click here https://www.rli-heartland.org/

SECRETARY REPORT
The February 20th meeting of the Rotary Club of Western Douglas County was called to order by President Judy with Duane leading the group in prayer and pledge to the flag. There were 10 members and 2 guests present (including the speaker).

Rita reported that there was $4,373.26 in the Treasury. Tod noted that the scholarship applications are now online for the committees to review. Neil will be gone golfing the coming two weeks so we will have to look for speakers! Gail stated that that the idea of honoring Ron by giving bicycle helmets to kids through police stations might be an excellent idea to explore. Mike handed out our June 15th Golf Outing fund raising signup sheet and encouraged getting more teams and at least as many hole sponsors as last years.

Rolly introduced the meeting's guest speaker Lt. Col. Chris "Conman" Conover from the Offutt AFB. Also, assisting with the audiovisual was Ryan Hansen. The Lt. Col. explain the rebuilt of Offutt following the March 16, 2019 flood that caused 137 facilities/hanger/buildings to be lost in what is to being called a 500 Year Flood. Lt. Col. Conover pointed out several slides of the flooded areas of Offut including the 2 mile runway that will need to be completely replaceed in the coming year. The slogan of Offutt is the "Sun Never Sets on the Fightin' 55th" because there is a plane always in the air!
