President's Message
Greeting Rotarians!

This week, our "guest" speaker will be Rolly Kleeman, who will be sharing his Colorado travelogue and white-water rafting photos.  Thanks again to last week's guest speaker, Ryan Lindquist, Executive Director of EPS Business Services. We need speakers for the remaining dates in August ... please contact Neil if you have any suggestions.

Meeting Minutes (July 29th)
Attendance:  Thirteen (13) plus two guests (Ryan Lindquist - EPS and Tyson Agler - DC Post Gazette).
Treasurer's Account
  • Overall Balance: $17,077.02 (Golf = $14,040 and Grants = $260.00); Payment to the Pines will be due next month (TBD)
  • Scholarship payments have been made to EPSF ($3,000); DC West check still to be mailed ($1,500)
  • Rotary International Dues: Semi-annual dues of $930.60  have been paid (20 members)
  • District 5650 Dues Rebate: Check for $463.80 received
  • District Grant: $1,205.36 will be due to CCS Systems, after an invoice is received and the Grant account is fully funded with WDC Rotary's portion ($605.36).
District 5650: New District Governor (Carol Horner) conducted her first monthly President's meeting (via Zoom) ... update to be provided next week
Golf Outing (July 19th): Great success!  Projected Revenue = $14,000; Projected Profit = $8,300.  Split-the-Pot amount was $340 and the winner donated the full amount back to our club.  Over $1,760 (mulligans, raffle tickets and auction items) were collected the day of the outing.  Rita has personally mailed hand-written "thank-you" notes to all major donors, sponsors and teams ... a "BIG" thanks to Rita for volunteering to complete this very important task!
Future Meetings:
  • August 5th: Rolly Kleeman (White-Water Rafting)
  • August 12th: OPEN
  • August 19th: OPEN (Substitute President needed)
  • August 26th: OPEN
New Business: The Club approved $400 as a Back-Pack donation to COPE.  Jim Tomanek will coordinate the actual purchase.  Fines: Several fines were collected
Speaker of the Day: Ryan Lindquist (EPS Executive Director of Business Services). Ryan provided some very interesting facts and general information about the Elkhorn School District.  The District has grown from 3,300 student to over 11,000 since 2005.  There are now 3 High Schools,  5 Middle Schools and 12 Elementary Schools.  The newest middle school "North Ridge MS" will open this fall. The logistics required to support these facilities is a major effort (1,200 staff, 48 custodians, 2.1 million square feet of space, 390 acres of land, on-site cooking operations, plus full busing services to all 20 buildings). There will also be 108 new teachers on staff this fall!
Thanks!  See you Thursday ... Tod
