President's Message

Greetings Rotarians!  I hope that everyone enjoyed the Labor Day weekend, especially those members that actually have a job!  Thanks to Rolly for sponsoring our guest speaker last week (Craig Kersten) and also for recruiting this week's speaker ... Larry Bock, former Superintendent of Schools at Blair and Major League Baseball Scout.  REMINDER ... this Wednesday, September 8th, is the first DC West Food Basket distribution ... Volunteers are needed ... please be at the school at 4:15.

Meeting Minutes (September 2nd)
Attendance:  Nine (9), plus our guest speaker, Craig Kersten
Opening Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance:  Steve Kucirek (Dave was late!)
Treasurer's Summary
  • Overall Balance: $10,696.36; Grants Account: $23.12
  • Rotary International and District 5650 Dues ... 100% paid (Next semi-annual payment due in October)
  • District Grant: Payment of $1,205.36 made to CCS Systems (100%)
District 5650: Next District President's meeting: October 18th.  WDC President-Elect for 2022 is needed! 
Future Meetings:
  • September 9th: Larry Bock (Former Superintendent of Blair Public Schools and Major League Baseball Scout)
  • September 16th: Brooke Wagner PA-C (Arthritis Knee Pain Clinic of Omaha)
  • September 23rd: OPEN (Substitute President also needed)
Old/New Business: DC West Food Basket drive (September 8th)
Social Events:  TBD ... Date/location for a WDC Rotary social gathering was discussed ... suggestions are needed.
Fines (Rolly): Numerous fines were collected ... 
Speaker of the Day: Craig Kersten (Personal Trainer and Master Swimming Coach). Craig shared his coaching and mentoring experiences, to include assisting students as young as middle school and as old as 80.  His clients have included numerous area high school students and UNO Master swim team members. Craig emphasized that everyone should find an activity that you enjoy, set short-term and long-term goals and to understand that "eating intelligently is an art"!
