THURSDAY SPEAKER - BOYS TOWN

My speaker for April 25th will be Rod Kempkes.  Rod is the Chief Operating Officer at Boys Town and a friend of mine.  I'm sure he will have some good information about Boys Town for the club
PRESIDENT JUDY

Have you registered for the District meeting yet?  You don’t want to miss this!  As I have mentioned before, Friday evening, attendees will have the option to enjoy a dinner cruise on the Belle of Brownville.  Remember, the entire conference is a family event.  We’ll all be able to help with a service project and there will be time to explore Nebraska City.

Two more Rotary events coming in July:

Hope to see everyone on Thursday!

MINUTES OF APRIL 25 MEETING
WDC Rotary Club
Meeting Minutes 4/25/19 (Only 8 months until Christmas)
We were led in prayer and pledge by Roger Bettmann
We had 13 members present – all male!  We suspect the ladies of the club were conducting their own private offsite meeting.  They were sorely missed!
Treasurer’s report:  $2,676.66 was the balance in general fund as of 4/26.   The special grant fund is at $725.   Almost half way to our goal of $1,500
Announcements/discussion:
  • Mike Ough stood in at the helm for Judy.  The “jokes” were of the usual caliber.
  • The Rotary Scholarship Golf Outing is June 17th.  All club members are encouraged to purchase $20 of raffle tickets and to supply Mike Ough with at least one item for the raffle/pin prize stash.  Hole sponsors also play a major part in the fundraising effort.
Presentation:
Neil introduced our two guests from Boystown, Rod Kemkes, COO and Herb Hames, Director of Development.  These gentlemen shared a vast amount of information about Boystown’s history, its present state of affairs, and its plans for the future to the meet the needs of the young people and families which it serves.  They gave several examples of how lives have been changed, and even saved, through the efforts and guidance that Boystown has provided.
If you would like more information about Boystown, visit:  www.boystown.org
P.S. Herb enjoyed his visit so much that he is coming again next week to speak to the club about the College World Series!
Ball Drawing:  It’s suspected that Roger Breed used his x-ray vision to draw the orange ball for the “win”.
