Greetings Rotarians! Thanks to everyone who attended last week's meeting and to Stacey Falk, Genice Chochon and Kristina Werner from the EPS Foundation for providing an update relative to our 2023 scholarship process. WDC Rotary is the only donor group that conducts in-person interviews of students! The scholarship evaluation period will be conducted in February and March. Wednesday (January 11), we have our monthly DC West Food Pantry distribution at the DC West school (4:00-5:00 PM). Volunteers are needed to help distribute food and to transport any excess product to COPE. Thursday's Rotary meeting will include a Soup and Sandwich lunch ($10.00) ... please reply to our Tuesday email request so that an accurate headcount can be obtained. Contact Jim Tomanek if you have any questions. Steve Kucirek will be our "guest" speaker and will discuss strategies relative to taxes and other financial items of interest. We will also continue our discussion relative to a "Get To Know Rotary" membership event. Registration for this year's Rotary District 5650 Conference in Lincoln will be available soon. The event will be held at the Innovation Campus at UNL. This year's speakers will include UNMC Chancellor Jeffery Gold and retiring UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green. Great News ... Jim Tomanek has enthusiastically agreed to be our club President for the 2023-2024 Rotary year! His nomination was swift and the unanimous vote was one of the fastest on record ... his inauguration parade will be in early July! Thanks ... see you Wednesday and Thursday! Tod |
