Below are the minutes from last week's meeting (September 10th) WDC Rotary's in-person 7:00 AM meeting was held on September 10th with 13 members in attendance, Larry Johansen again joined us via ZOOM. Dave Rosacker provided our Opening Prayer and all joined in the Pledge of Allegiance. Treasurer's Report: Rita reported our account balance as $8,856.13. The WDC Grant account balance remains at $2,070 - designated for the OPD Bike. Public Relations: Jim thanked all who helped with the COPE food distribution at DC West. Scholarships: No new report Fines: Jim filled in for Neil and several fines. Future Speakers: - September 17th, we will have a representative from Reichmuth Funeral Home. Rolly and Rita are bringing "breakfast and coffee" as part of their contribution to the day's speaker.
- September 24th, we will have our annual "meet and greet" with NFL referee Tripp Sutter ... don't miss it!
Next regular in-person meeting will be this Thursday, at Common Ground (7:00 AM - September 3rd).
Today's Speaker: Bary Habrock, Superintendent Elkhorn Public Schools New High School (Elkhorn North) and Elementary (Woodbrook) opened up this year. Over 10,000 total students, plus 1,200 staff; 3,000 students in the 3 high schools. Most recent bond issue also included funds for a new Middle School that is currently being built next to Woodbrook Elementary (area of 192nd and Ida Street) EPS is using a "layered protocol" to deal with issues associated with the coronavirus and draws on experts from UNMC, Douglas County Health and state and regional leaders to advise them on creating a safe working and learning environment. Very difficult decisions had to be made relative to classroom sanitation, sports, activities, social distancing and quarantine policies. EPS has not had a single case of any healthy quarantined student or staff member who later tested positive. Over 800 students started the year using "remote-only" learning ... of that number, 120 have returned to the classroom. |
