In 1942, at the age of 13, Anne Frank went into hiding in Amsterdam. Anne was not affiliated with Rotary, however, she would have been a perfect member. While secretly living in an attic, Anne wrote in her diary: "No one has ever become poor by giving." Similar to Rotarians, Anne knew the value of generosity and helping others. "Service above self," says it all.
