Your board of directors met this past Thursday after our regular board meeting. Since we have been unable to find our club’s by-laws, we are working on new by-laws for the club. We are also working on job descriptions for each officer position. While the district has job descriptions for each officer position, we do have some leeway. For instance, we have created a position called webmaster who takes care of the newsletter, ClubRunner, and some of the tracking information on the district website.
Upcoming deadlines:
September 15th is the deadline to apply to be a member of the District board of directors.
September 15th is also the deadline to submit someone for the “Service Above Self” award.
September 30th is the deadline to have club goals entered on the District Club Profile.
Our club goals have all been entered; we had to have them posted before we were eligible for the grant.
Remember we will be attending the Omaha Morning Rotary club on September 17th and will not be meeting on September 19th.

* Next Wednesday is the monthly "Lunch Bunch" meeting at Noon at Shevy's Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Elkhorn. Here, the world's problems will be discussed and most likely made worse. * Ron is putting together a special Veterans Day edition of the newsletter. Veteran club members are encouraged to forward pictures and information to Ron so you can be duly honored. * The Omaha Morning Rotary Club is hosting Ernie Goss, Creighton University Economics Professor, as their speaker on Tuesday, September 17th, 7:00AM at the Happy Hollow Country Club. Breakfast is $15. Our club decided that we would elect to visit the Omaha Club on this day in lieu of our Thursday September 19th meeting.

The club was given an inside look into the NFL from a very different perspective. Tripp compared and contrasted the college game and the professional game. Each month, 100 newspapers and some 75 to 100 radio stations carry the Creighton University Regional Economic Report, which is produced under the supervision of Ernie Goss. The report is a widely read barometer of the economic prospects of the region.
Ernest Goss is the Jack MacAllister Chair in Regional Economics at Creighton University and served as the initial director for Creighton’s Institute for Economic Inquiry. He is also principal of the Goss Institute in Denver, Colo. Goss received his Ph.D. in economics from The University of Tennessee in 1983 and is a former faculty research fellow at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. He was a visiting scholar with the Congressional Budget Office for 2003-2004, and has testified before the U.S. Congress, the Kansas Legislature, and the Nebraska Legislature. In the fall of 2005, the Nebraska Attorney General appointed Goss to head a task force examining gasoline pricing in the state.
He has published more than 100 research studies focusing primarily on economic forecasting and on the statistical analysis of business and economic data. His book Changing Attitudes Toward Economic Reform During the Yeltsin Era was published by Praeger Press in 2003, and his book Governing Fortune: Casino Gambling in America was published by the University of Michigan Press in March 2007.
He is editor of Economic Trends, an economics newsletter published monthly with more than 10,000 subscribers, produces a monthly business conditions index for the nine-state Mid-American region, and conducts a survey of bank CEOs in 10 U.S. states. Survey and index results are cited each month in approximately 100 newspapers; citations have included the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Investors Business Daily, The Christian Science Monitor, Chicago Sun Times, and other national and regional newspapers and magazines. Each month 75- 100 radio stations carry his Regional Economic Report.

I would like to have a special edition of bulletin dedicated to veterans before November 11 - Veteran's Day. Would club veterans send me a photo or two of you in uniform, it can be a formal photo or with military equipment when you were a young trooper jumping out of a Huey or a Navy item. (THIRD request)
