Other announcements/discussion: The Christmas Part last Sunday at Farmer Brown’s was a smashing success. (Much more so than the Vikings efforts against the Eagles that same evening.) Apparently, there was plenty of “catting” around that took place.
President Mike read an email from Scott Peters, originally of Elkhorn and a former Rotary presenter. Scott continues his mission in Haiti teaching carpentry skills to the local people there. Rex has done some further analysis and offered information about Hy-Vee options and also mentioned Scooters as a potential coffee provider, it was also mentioned that brewing our own coffee may be a solution to controlling expense and waste,
while providing hot coffee rather than room temperature coffee (at times). Further discussion will continue. We may give Hy-Vee’s Continental breakfast a try as it is less expensive per head.
Speaker for the Day: Judy Ackland introduced her friend, Thomas Anderson. Thomas is an accomplished attorney by trade. Today he shared his inspiring message about his battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Thomas used HEART to emphasize his thoughts on how best to deal with a cancer diagnosis
H is for Health- It is important to try to live and act in a healthy way while battling. Try to exercise.
E is for Eating- Keep eating and eat a lot. Chemotherapy burns many calories. It is important to make sure you eat and keep up with that caloric balance.
A is for Attitude- Come to the realization that you have cancer and can deal with it.
R is for Relationships- People will want to help you. Let them do that for you.
T is for Truth- God is Truth without God there is no Truth.
Thomas said the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is fairly common and very treatable as he is living proof. 8 in 100,000 people contract this type of cancer. (Ron's supplement: Rolly won a white golf ball in the kitty drawing)
