Greetings Rotarians and Friends of Rotary! As families turn their attention to end-of-school activities, graduation celebrations and summer plans, this week we take the time to pause and observe Memorial Day and it's significance to our nation's history. We will be meeting in the EPSF's main-level conference room (unless their plans change again!). Plan on having lunch served ... TBD. The Rotary International Conference in Melbourne, Australia is this week (May 27-31) ... the theme is "Image Rotary". Check out www.rotary.org or www.rotarydistrict5650.org for up-to-date conference information, videos and links to world-class speakers. As discussed last week, our club has decided to bypass a District Grant application this year. As an alternative community-support project, we are going to partner with a COPE donor in order to purchase meat for the DC West Food Pantry. Details need to be worked out, but the plan is to contribute $100 per month ($1,200 per year, for two years) so that needy families receive meat as part of their monthly food pantry package. We have speakers lined up for a couple of weeks in June (Jerry Egermier and Tom McShane), but always need more. Please contact Neil as soon as possible. Thanks ... see you Thursday! Tod |
