PRESIDENT JUDY'S REPORT
Hopefully, each of you received the District newsletter by email this past week.  Some highlights from DG Mick McKinley’s report:
  • District membership has increased by a net 42 members (62 new, 20 lost).
  • November is Rotary Foundation month.
    • Currently, there are 22 District grant projects and 3 global grants.
    • Rotary clubs who donate at least $100 per member to the Foundation receive “Every Rotarian Every Year” designation.
  • Rotary International Foundation received the Charity Navigator’s highest rating (again)!
    • The Foundation scored a perfect 100 out of 100.

As you know, our Club’s annual dues include a $50 donation to the Foundation.  If you are interested in contributing more to the Rotary Foundation, you have two ways to give:
  • Go online to https://www.rotary.org/en and click on the “Donate” button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.  In order to get credit for our club, you need to login to your account before donating.
  • Give a check to one of our officers and we will send it in for you.

See everyone on Thursday.

Announcements/Discussion:
  • Holiday meeting schedule:  The club will not meet on 11/28 (Thanksgiving); 12/26 (day after Christmas); or 1/2/20 (day after New Year’s Day)
  • Club Christmas Party:  Tod has reserved the social event room at the Elkhorn Public School Foundation building for us 6PM-8PM on the evening of December 19th.  The cost is $150 and the club must provide our own food and refreshments.  We will continue to work on the plan for this event.
  • The club will again be ringing the Salvation Army Bell in front of Family Fare on November 25, 26 & 27.  A sign-up sheet will be available soon..
Presentation:
Neil Introduced Mr. Louis Hansen.  Mr. Hansen served in the Army from 1944-1947 during World War II.   Mr. Hansen shared stories of his experiences in the Philippines and in Japan.  After the war, he went on to finish college and become a career educator, both at the high school level and eventually at the college level.  The club thanks Mr. Hansen for his service in the military as well as within the education system.
