President's Message

Greetings Rotarians ...

Thanks to Judy for covering for me while I was gone last week and to Steve for providing some "impromptu" financial planning advise.  October is Polio Awareness Month and Rotary continues the worldwide fight to battle this disease that primarily strikes children in poor, third-world countries. Under Diane's leadership, we will be having our own fund-raising effort in the near future.  As always, we need help in identifying entertaining and informative speakers for future weeks.   As we continue to address the COVID-19 challenge locally, please stay safe and wear your mask when entering Common Ground.  Thanks ... see you Thursday!   Tod

SECRETARY REPORT
Below are the minutes from last week's meeting (October 1st)

WDC Rotary's in-person 7:00 AM meeting was held on October 1st with 12 members in attendance.
Judy stepped in for Tod to handle the President's duties for the meeting.
Dave Rosacker provided our Opening Prayer and all joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Treasurer's Report:  Rita reported our account balance as $8,931.13.    The  OPD Bike has been delivered to Gail and the invoice will be paid.  The remaining $300 will be allocated for a bike tool kit as per the original grant request.
Grant Presentation: A request has been submitted to the Mayor's office, to have her be a part of our OPD bicycle presentation.  We hope to be able to do so either on 10/22 or 10/29 in lieu of our regular meeting.
Public Relations: Jim announced that COPE will be holding another food basket event at DC West Elementary School in Valley on 10/7.  Volunteers are needed from 4:00 to 6:30 to help with traffic and distribution.
Scholarships: No new report
Fines: Neil was back in form to collect several fines.
Future Speakers: Are desperately needed!
Today's Speaker:  Steve Kucirek, Edward Jones

Steve came to the aid of our group to present a "State of the Market" report for the benefit of his fellow Rotarians.
