Greetings Rotarians!
Congratulations again to Bob Reade, for receiving his Paul Harris Fellow recognition last week ... a well-deserved honor! Our youngest club member, Jasmine Moats, also visited and updated us on her activities as a Junior at Elkhorn South, to include her success as a high-jumper ... qualifying for the Class A State Track Meet!
Thanks to all those that helped at the DC West Food Basket distribution last week ... we will be continuing this activity throughout the summer.
Fifteen members welcomed Bill Harvey, District Foundation Chair, as our guest speaker. Bill provided a status report on our club's Foundation activities, to include an update on the District's Ukrainian Relief fund ($110,000 raised, $14.1m total, by 10 Districts). When his 3-year term ends this year, Bill will become an Endowment Advisor for Rotary, for the central region of the US. The District has approximately $91,300 available for District Grants this year (deadline for our application is May 31st).
Tomorrow's speaker will be Bill Williams, from Patriot Productions. In addition, Common Ground will be hosting the Special Olympics Swim Meet so we will be limited to the south half of our room ... we will need to set up accordingly.
Next week, our special guest will be Carol Horner, District Governor and member of the Council Bluffs Rotary ... hopefully we can have a large turn-out to welcome her!
Thanks ... See you tomorrow ... Tod
